SBTRKT – Pharaohs ft. Roses Gabor

[wide][/wide] SBTRKT has made quite a name for himself in the music industry, even though he still hides behind a mysterious mask. Having remixed the likes of M.I.A., Basement Jaxx and Modeselektor he is now ready to drop his own album, surprisingly bringing along with him an A-grade line-up of guest vocalists.
After making a creepy, dehydrated splash with his “Wildfire” MV, the London producer SBTRKT is showing his lighter side with “Pharoahs” off his new self-titled debut LP. “Pharoahs” is staccato, Diana Ross disco soul featuring UK warbler Roses Gabor — the star of the video. The lilting Roses is becoming a prevalent name in British future soul collaborations, and thus far she seems fond of face paint.

About the video itself :
“After speaking with Aaron aka SBTRKT it was clear that he wanted to work within an area that would compliment his album artwork,” says Tim Brown, who’s returned to music videos with the clip for SBTRKT’s Pharaohs, featuring Roses Gabor. “I’m a big fan of photographic portrait compositions so I wanted to create a set up/camera rig that could cover Roses’ performance from all angles. The eight-camera rig meant that we could cut around Roses in 45 degrees increments. Resetting the cameras proved difficult, and because we had full 360 degree coverage it meant that no one could stand in the studio while we were shooting. But overall it was a fun shoot, and the props really came together even with the very tight timeline we had to work within…”
