Perfume Genius – Hood

[wide][/wide] “Hood” is sad song but its video is totally hot. But how could Perfume Genius be so sad when in the video he has the gigantic daddy-gay porn star icon Arpad Miklos around to brush his hair for him, put on his lipstick and eyeshadow and hold him longingly? A kiss in the dark at the end and a slight smile make us think Perfume Genius is truly an optimist and a romantic, that even if the song is heavy, there’s no real reason to cry. The song is mostly a simple piano tune with lovelorn vocals over the top, including a brief flourish into jaunty drum-led territory at the close. The video has been directed by Winston Case. Hood is the second song to emerge from his forthcoming album, called Put Your Back N 2 It, will be released on February 21st. Love the song, love the video.
