The TILLMANN LAUTERBACH collection appears as a flawless style performance. It is well-known at this stage that Tillmann’s simplicity endeavor is a leitmotiv.
But happily this is the illusionary side of things. A closer sight on his creative techniques and construction details showcases the designer’s discerning eye.
Tillmann’s immersion to the Chinese creative scene is non negotiable. The art lies in his talent, bending tradition with innovation. The spring-summer 2013 tributes Andy Warhol’s 80s journey to China through the photography of his travel companion Christopher Makos.
The outcome is solid modernity.
The dominance is in neutral tones like various shades of grey and off-white dashes and khakis. Everything is designed to look soft. The body movement of the fabrics feels relaxed but there is a sculpting intention as well. Wool, cotton/linen blends, silk and satin. Clean shapes are the highlights to make it a sort of rough elegance and sharp rawness.
Let’s call it a statement.
