Oris has created a third limited edition series model in honor of its status as time partner of the Swiss Air Racing team, which is the only Swiss team taking part at the Reno Air Race.
The Reno Air Races date back to 1964 and showcases the skills of aviators in extremely high performance aircraft. The Swiss Air Racing team first competed at the Reno Air Races in 2010.
The new Air Racing Edition III watch is based on the popular Oris BC3 watch collection – a handsome tool-style watch.
The Oris Air Racing’s BC3 style case is 42mm wide in steel, but in this case coated in black DLC. The dial and hands have a lot of SuperLumiNova. This even includes the numerals for the day and date indicators – which is rare. The case is further water resistant to 100 meters and has an AR coated sapphire crystal. The focal point of the Oris Air Racing Edition III is the red and white zebra print minute hand, inspired by the speed limit indicator of a flight instrument. The clearly visible hand allows the pilot to focus on the minutes indicator, a function that is crucial during flights.
The black DLC-coated BC3 case and textile strap make this watch a perfect timepiece for VFR pilots and those for whom the minute hand is the most crucial.
The watch is limited to just 1,000 pieces and comes in a special Aviation Box bearing a compass indication on the top.
