Westwood – the Punk Grandma of Fashion

For decades Vivienne Westwood has stirred the pot of fashion with a skilful and provocative hand. It all started with the Punk movement. Westwood began making clothes for Malcom McLaren’s shop called “SEX” on Kings Road and his band Sex Pistols. She was the one to bring Punk into mainstream fashion and she loved the shock value of it all.

Through time she became world famous for being an avant-garde designer with spectacular fashion shows. They have showcased clothes that have played with the female body shape and shoes with ridiculously high heels. That was made front page news when Naomi Campbell tripped on the catwalk in 1993.

Vivienne Westwood was awarded British Fashion Designer of the Year in 1990, 1991 as well as 2006. Today you find her clothes and accessories in all major cities in the world and the Queen of England has bestowed on her the title of Dame for her achievements in fashion and design. Westwood also is a staunch political activist who fights for civil rights and nuclear disarmament.

On October the 9th her biography comes out but it can already now be pre-ordered on her webpage and on amazon.co.uk.

It promises to be a colourful story.
