The rapper NF released his third studio album Perception a month ago and the album debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Top 200 and has sold a total of more than 800,000 copies to date. The biggest single from the album, “Let You Down”, which dives in to his troubled relationship with his father, has more than 100 million streams worldwide and in addition to reaching Number 1 on Spotify’s Global Viral 50 Chart. Now, NF has shared the official music video for “Let You Down”.
The clip depicts a weary old man watching his son drown and then burn up in a flaming vehicle. The somber video concludes with him standing over a coffin. It’s not exactly subtle or light viewing, but it taps into the universally relatable struggle between generations laid out in the lyrics.
If you haven’t listened to Perception yet, do it soon. The album might break your heart but if you’ve ever struggled with anything from addiction to family problems to loss, it might give you something that you can relate to. Get your tissues ready.
