You have probably asked yourself the following question many times: “Where do I want to go on holidays next summer?”. It’s winter now and I’m envying some sun, sea and shorts. But where? Something active, cultural, exotic or something gay and party-minded? I have traveled to so many prides, gay parties and did some cruises and I feel like I could have some gay holidays again, but I want something different. You know what I mean?
SPORTS ISLAND is a brand new concept and looks very enticing
Well, I think I’ve found an answer to that desire: SPORTS ISLAND. It’s a brand new concept and looks very enticing. It is a sports and wellness vacation for gays, lesbians and friends, where participants will combine sports, nutrition, luxury pampering and bootcamp in the scenic retreat of Club La Santa, Lanzarote (Canary Islands). The very first edition of SPORTS ISLAND will take place from Sunday 2nd till Sunday 9th of September 2018.
SPORTS ISLAND is designed by Philippe De Wulf, former member of the Belgian national swimming team and communication specialist and Frederick Boutry, LGBT marketing specialist, working more than ten years on the gay market, helping brands, destinations, gay festivals and parties to get the attention of the community.
Frederick Boutry explains: “Gay & lesbian people love to travel, meet people and discover new destinations, especially when it’s gay friendly. They like to be able to be themselves in an open-minded atmosphere. Gays love to party and they travel for that: huge festivals and prides made the highlights of the gay and lesbian community during years. Even cruises became a must. But it’s time for an alternative where you focus more on yourself and disconnect of the day-to-day life in harmony with the elements. SPORTS ISLAND is also perfect for singles to meet people in a different way, perfect for lovers who want to enjoy themselves and for groups of friends who want to have healthy fun.”
We want participants to practice sports they know but also to make them try out new things.
Philippe De Wulf, the former Belgian team swimmer who still practices water polo and will be a swimming coach at Sports Island, adds: “SPORTS ISLAND is a brand new holiday experience where participants will get everything to take care of themselves. We want them to practice sports they know but also to make them try out new things. The top quality sports accommodations at Club La Santa and the professional coaches will help everyone to enjoy physical activity and body focus.”

“It is important to connect your body with your mind, which is not only good for your health, it is also so much fun. Sharing this in a gay friendly environment on a tropical island is going to be a unique adventure. A full program of sports and healthy fun has been set up. Besides sports activities, nutritional advise and workshops will be proposed. We want participants to leave SPORTS ISLAND happier, healthier and more confident than on arrival!”
A 7 days program with sports and social activities has been set up. The SPORTS ISLAND team will work closely with Club La Santa Green Team to ensure the participants the best time ever, in the morning and afternoon! The evening will start detox juice demos and musical chill out atmosphere, brought by an international dj team: Steven Redant (SP), Daniele D’Alessandro (I) and Dikky Vandetta (NL).
