Cologne cranks up the Queer Christmas Cheer

Cologne has long been one of Germany’s queer hot-spots, but add an LGBTQ Christmas market into the mix and everything goes next level.

It’s called Heavenue – Heaven + Avenue – and this camp Chrismas bonanza is running until 23 December, from 4-10 PM each day.

You’ll find Heavenue taking over the plaza between Hahnenstrasse and Schaafenstrasse. The precinct will be awash with Christmas lights and colourful market booths all sporting a cool, pop-art feel.

The team behind Heavenue is local outfit Chicos Events – one of the best party organisers in Cologne.

Heavenue offers everything you’d expect from a German Christmas market – the decorations, the mulled wine, the seasonal food – but then ramps it up with Insta-worthy installations and loads of performances to put the queer into your festive cheer.
