Into The Blue: A Dive into Parisian Pools with Soo Burnell

Renowned Scottish photographer, Soo Burnell, once again graces Molitor with a fresh chapter of her acclaimed series, Poolside. The exhibition, titled “Into the Blue”, is a captivating visual journey through five exquisite Parisian pools.

From the color blocks of Molitor to the “piano key” tiles of La Butte-aux-Cailles, from the geometric reflections at Piscine de Bagneux to the splendid natural light at Piscine George Hermant, and culminating in the revival of Piscine des Amiraux – “Into the Blue” spans decades, yet harkens back to a universal joy. That invigorating sensation one feels when stepping into water.

Burnell remarks, “I wanted to capture Parisian pools in a way akin to the series I shot in my hometown of Edinburgh, Scotland. While there are architectural parallels between many of these pools, I also discerned a shared sense of community they bring.” This sentiment is testament to Burnell’s ability to not just capture structures, but the emotions they evoke.

The exhibition runs from November 24th to January 7th, 2024. An exclusive vernissage will be held on December 7th, 2023, from 6 pm to 9 pm, with the esteemed artist herself in attendance.

Dive into Burnell’s vision and experience the tranquility and architectural majesty of Paris’s pools, as she effortlessly blends the past with the present in her signature style.
