Edgar Suites: Redefining Urban Living in Lille

Founded in 2016 by Xavier O’Quin, Maxime Benoit, and Grégoire Benoit, Edgar Suites have quickly become a synonym for urban luxury and comfort. Their latest venture, the first Edgar Suites residence in Lille,  opened  last December 14, is a testament to their commitment to combining spacious, character-filled living spaces with the convenience of city life. Designed for families, groups, and business travelers, Edgar Suites offers a new generation of Urban Suites, equipped for a seamless stay, backed by a 24/7 mobile-accessible reception and a professional steward team.

Nestled near the Lille railway station, the Lille – Faidherbe Residence flaunts a long, red-brick facade that elegantly intertwines modern architecture with local heritage. This new urban haven is not just a place to stay but a warm embrace of sophisticated design and deep-rooted history.

The residence boasts 10 Urban Suites, each spanning an average of 60 square meters, designed to accommodate couples, families, and friend groups of up to six people. True to Edgar Suites’ philosophy, each suite is a haven of comfort, featuring five-star bedding, fully-equipped kitchens, curated selections of local brands, and 24/7 multichannel reception.

This project holds a special place in the hearts of co-founders Maxime and Grégoire, who share their childhood memories of Lille. Maxime Benoit, co-founder and Director of Expansion, reminisces, “Our grandfather worked at ‘Buffet de la Gare’ right across our new residence. This project is a tribute to our roots, a blend of our personal history with the city’s cultural legacy.”

The collaboration with LA.M Studio and Maxime Benoit, the Artistic Director, reflects in the residence’s unique design. Inspired by Flemish architecture, the Hôtel Faidherbe’s red brick façade with intricate modénatures has been creatively reinterpreted within the interiors. The entrance welcomes guests with a custom-made, kinetic-like stripe design, extending through the communal areas and adding a dynamic visual element.

Color, an integral part of Edgar Suites’ DNA, is omnipresent in the Hôtel Faidherbe. It is beautifully manifested in graphic wallpapers, custom-made draperies, and velvet furniture selections, creating a cohesive and vibrant aesthetic.

LA.M Studio’s commitment to bespoke designs and local craftsmanship is evident in the décor. The In The Slice collection adds a contemporary touch with dark wood coffee tables and bedheads, harmonizing with the lighter wooden floors and kitchens.

The collaboration extends to Vescom for wall coverings, AMPM for furniture, and Little Big Galerie for artistic pieces. The mix of vintage elements and designs inspired by the original façade adds a unique charm, reminiscent of the building’s past.

A highlight of the residence is the courtyard mural by Claude Blo Ricci, in collaboration with Galerie Bessaud. Its vibrant colors, aligned with the interior’s palette, create a pop-art ambiance, visible from each apartment and infusing life into the space.

LÉONIE ALMA MASON, of LA.M Studio, brings her expertise to this project. Her passion for detail, culture, and design elevates the residence, reflecting a blend of modernity and heritage.

With the Lille – Faidherbe Residence, Edgar Suites marks its eleventh establishment, following successful openings in Bordeaux and Cannes. This expansion signifies their strategic growth outside Paris, underlining their vision to reshape urban living across France.
