Lancia Ypsilon: The Great Return of the Italian City Car as 100% Electric

The new Lancia Ypsilon, officially presented on February 14, 2024, Valentine’s Day, marks a significant milestone in the revival of the iconic Italian brand for this 3rd generation. This date, chosen to celebrate love, perfectly resonates with the passion Lancia intends to rekindle among its admirers and future customers.

The exterior design of the Ypsilon incorporates Lancia’s new stylistic direction, with its distinctive front light signature, headlights offset on the front bumper, and hidden rear door handles, giving the car a modern and elegant appearance. The rear lights, equipped with a Y-shaped light signature made of LED segments, pay tribute to the legendary Lancia Stratos.

The interior of the Ypsilon offers a comfortable and technologically advanced space, with seats upholstered in blue velvet, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and a circular “multifunctional table” incorporating an induction charger for smartphones. The interior ambiance is enhanced by a 10.25-inch instrument display and a large central touchscreen of the same size that houses the connected infotainment system SALA (Sound Air Light Augmentation), which allows for extensive customization of the onboard experience through widgets.

Technically, the new Ypsilon is initially offered in an electric version, equipped with a 156 horsepower motor and a 51 kWh battery with a range of up to 403 km according to the WLTP cycle. A micro-hybrid thermal version will also be available, using a three-cylinder engine of 100 horsepower.

The commercialization will begin in the coming weeks in Italy, with the Cassina special series illustrated here, limited to 1,906 units corresponding to the year Lancia was founded. The car will then be gradually introduced to European markets. And good news: Belgium will be among the first to be served! Prices have not yet been announced.
